The Shark Support Team says that you can leave your Shark cordless vacuum cleaner on the charger all the time when not in use. It helps in recharging the battery completely. It further states that for optimal use, always return your vacuum to the dock after each use.
However, some users state differently. Leaving your cordless vacuum cleaner on the charger all the time when not in use provides a full battery for cleaning. But it can also damage the battery if you don’t use it frequently. Suppose you use your vacuum twice a week but keep it charging 24/7; it can damage the battery.
Shark Cordless Vacuum cleaners use lithium-ion batteries. These batteries have a fixed life, and extra charging can damage the battery cells, resulting in the battery losing its power quickly.
How to Charge Shark Cordless Vacuum Cleaners?
The steps below explain generic charging process for Shark cordless vacuum cleaners. Please go through your model’s user manual before charging for the first time.
- You can charge the battery while it is in the handheld vacuum. Insert the Li-Ion charger into any wall outlet and its other end into the charging port available on the handheld vacuum. Make sure to remove the handheld vacuum from the wand.
- You can also charge the battery when the vacuum is in MultiFlex storage mode.
- If your Shark vacuum cleaner has a removable battery option, remove the battery from the handheld vacuum and insert the charger into the battery’s charging port.
- Shark ION power pack charging dock can also be used to recharge the battery.
Shark Cordless Vacuum Cleaners
Shark cordless vacuum cleaners are one of the best in the market. Shark’s vacuums can clean carpets, hardwood floors, tiles and various other flooring types. Its self-cleaning brush roll prevents hair wrapping and makes maintenance easy.
Shark vacuums make it easy to clean above the floor surfaces as you can remove the hand vacuum and attach the wand. You can clean your cars with a shark vacuum.
Do shark cordless vacuum cleaners include the charger or is that a separate purchase? I’m looking at CH951 and CH900WM.
Charger is not included in both models. You will have to buy a separate charger.
Should I just discharge battery before I charge it again.
No. You don’t need to completely discharge the battery before you charge it again. A fully functional battery will start charging regardless of the current charge it has.
This is my second Shark cordless vacuum cleaner and both I always kept plugged in so that it was ready when needed. They gradually get weaker and weaker until it has no power. Very disappointing! What might I be doing wrong?
Keeping the cleaner in charge is ok if you use it regularly. The problem comes when you keep charging the machine and don’t use it regularly. For example, if you use the vacuum daily, you can keep it on charging, but if you use it weekly or after 15 days, there is no point leaving it on charging.
Moreover, the best practice is to turn off the charging once the battery is 100% charged so that you have a full battery for the next cleanup.
