9 Reasons why Bissell 1413 isn’t Picking Items on Carpet
Problem 1: Holes or cracks in the vacuum hose
Solution: Inspect the hose for any cracks, holes, or kinks. Straighten out kinks and bents. You can use duct tape to patch up small holes, but bigger holes or multiple holes require hose replacement.
Problem 2: Incorrect height setting
Solution: Always focus on the height of the carpet and then adjust the power foot accordingly. You will find five height settings on the Bissell 1413 vacuum cleaner.
If you are using your vacuum on a plush carpet, the highest setting must be selected. For medium pile carpets, you can use the medium setting, and for bare floors or low pile carpets, the lowest height setting is recommended.
Problem 3: There is a problem with the drive belt. Either it is broken or worn out
Solution: It is recommended to regularly check the drive belt to ensure it is in good working condition. The vacuum fails to collect debris when the drive belt gets broken or worn out. The only solution for this problem is to replace the drive belt.
Problem 4: Dirty/clogged or old filters
Solution: Check both the pre-motor and post-motor filters and clean them. Replace if the filters are damaged.
When cleaning the filters, keep in mind that the black carbon filter is not washable. Also, you can’t wash the pleated post-motor filter.
Problem 5: Dirt tank is full of dust and debris
Solution: Remove the dirt tank and empty it by pushing the bottom lid release button available on the back of the tank.
You can also wash the dirt tank with warm water and a mild detergent. Don’ forget to wear face mask while emptying the dirt bag.
Problem 6: Improper installation of the dirt or upper tank
Solution: Properly install the dirt tank or upper tank. Make sure they are positioned correctly.
Problem 7: The vacuum cleaner is clogged or blocked
Solution: Clearing a clog is necessary to enhance the cleaning performance of your vacuum.
First of all, empty the dirt tank. Then check the upper tank and remove any debris build-up. Also, you need to inspect the suction inlet and remove the clog. Moreover, check the hose wand base, wand, or the hose itself to clean any blockage.
Problem 8: The rotating floor brush is clogged
Solution: To solve this issue, clean the brush and the brush ends. Also, check the brush cover and clean the accumulated debris under the brush cover.
Problem 9: The bristles of the rotating floor brush are worn
Solution: The only solution is to replace the rotating floor brush.
